Backup and disaster recovery vendor, Veeam, has partnered with Nimble Storage to expand its storage capabilities as part of the new Veeam Availability Suite Version 9.5, to be released later in 2016.

In addition to existing integrations with enterprise storage offerings from HPE, NetApp and EMC, Veeam said the integration of Nimble Storage aims to increase availability and improve operational performance for Nimble Storage users.

According to Veeam head of channel and alliances A/NZ, Peter Bender, the partnership empowers local Nimble Storage channel partners to move their customers from being organisations that just ‘backup’ to being available 24/7.

He told ARN the actual release date of version 9.5 was dependent on the the release of Windows Server 2016.

“We will be a couple of months after the release and that’s about as close as you can get” he said,

“Our development team works closely with the Microsoft development team.”

Bender explained that in choosing which storage vendors to partner with, the Veeam product marketing team go by the market penetration of those particular storage vendors.

“HP obviously has a major chunk, NetApp’s got a major chunk, EMC’s got a major chunk and NImble is growing pretty quickly. We also take a lot from our partners and our customers,” he added.

Nimble Storage chief executive, Suresh Vasudevan, said extending its partnership with Veeam also provides cost-effective data protection for the company’s enterprise customer base.

“We are now enabling our joint partner ecosystem to sell an integrated solutions for customers looking to deploy flash in their Datacentres and the Cloud. Nimble and Veeam solutions can not only coexist in modern Datacentres but simplify IT operations at a lower total cost of ownership.”

Nimble Storage managing director A/NZ, Bede Hackney, added, “Today's complex infrastructure creates an app-data gap that has disrupted data delivery. Users need performance with scalability optimised for a broad range of applications. By integrating with Veeam we will be able to support customers with absolute resiliency, effortless management and seamless storage management operations."
