Australian cloud services provider Vault has appointed Mark Walker as its first secure cloud channel manager for New South Wales and Queensland.

Walker will be responsible for developing a partner network and introducing Vault’s portfolio of services in the region.

He is also charged with introducing Vault to these markets as an Australian-owned business that provides a secure infrastructure-as-a-service platform alternative to the "off-shore owned Big three".

A spokesperson for Vault said the company is looking to sign up new partners to work with across both the Government and critical infrastructure sectors. Vault was the first company, along with Sliced Tech, to be granted the protected level of certification from the Australian Signal Directorate.

“We have really seen a demand for secure cloud services as local governments and enterprises strive to deliver scalable services to Australians," Vault founder and CEO Rupert Taylor-Price said.

"The appointment of Mark is one that reflects our goal of delivering NSW and Queensland with a cloud solution that puts privacy, security, sovereignty and performance at the forefront."

Walker has more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry having previously worked for the likes of IBM and Data#3.

He joins from ICM Consulting, where he was most recently the director of sales and was responsible for ICM gaining official certification as cloud partners with Google, AWS and Microsoft.

He will report to Vault's managing director for corporate and business Tony Simkins.

“Vault has a well-deserved reputation as a leading sovereign community cloud provider for the Australian Federal Government," Walker said. "I look forward to bringing Vault’s values and proven cloud delivery model to new government and critical infrastructure clients across New South Wales and Queensland.

"I am excited to be on board and part of the team as we continue to build on the rapid growth Vault has experienced over the last year."

Vault has also a channel manager for ACT and one for Victoria, and works with partners across Australia including Accenture, ASG, Fujitsu, Leidos and RXP Services to name a few.
