Check Point Software Technologies has appointed Hamish Soper as channel director across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), replacing the recently departed Craig McGregor.
Soper - who returns to the security specialists after 12 months - is tasked with expanding and enabling the vendor’s ecosystem of partners on both sides of the Tasman.
Soper rejoins Check Point from AppDynamics - which is owned by Cisco - following a role as country manager of the application intelligence software vendor in New Zealand.
Prior to this however, Soper spent more than a decade as country manager of Check Point in New Zealand, following management roles with Vodafone and Canon.
“A supporter of change and conduit for out-of-the-box and challenging thinking,” wrote Soper, via his social media account. “My general approach to any given situation is easy going, level-headed and pragmatic with a high degree of energy.”
From a distribution standpoint, Check Point is represented in Australia by Arrow ECS ANZ, Orca Tech and Westcon-Comstor, alongside Duo and Westcon-Comstor in New Zealand.
Soper replaces McGregor in the role, who exited the business in May to take up a channel sales manager role at IBM.
McGregor will report to A/NZ general manager of global business partners, Alison Freeman, and will be based in Sydney.
An IBM spokesperson said McGregor will be responsible for “driving new routes to market” in a cross brand capacity, expanding existing partner portfolios and on-boarding new partners.
McGregor has more than 20 years experience in the IT industry, holding senior channel leadership roles with Microsoft, Adobe and Sun Microsystems.
