IMEI and BTAS have announced the planned merger of business operations in Australia, as the Sydney-based partners prepare to tackle the lucrative enterprise market.
Terms of the agreement will see IMEI acquire the BTAS assets, people and customer contracts, with the combined entity operating under the IMEI brand.
Designed to offer a managed mobile and unified communications solution, the expanded business will serve over 150 enterprise and government organisations across the country, managing more than 150,000 communication endpoints in the process.

“With a range of high profile clients, the acquisition of BTAS supports our strategy to lead the market and meet the future requirements for a single provider to manage all mobile and unified communications.”
Founded in 1993, BTAS provides intelligent enterprise–grade communications, leveraging expertise across the unified communications and collaboration markets.
From a vendor perspective, the provider partners with HP, Microsoft, Alcatel-Lucent and Aruba alongside Mitel, Ruckus Wireless, Avaya and Lifesize.
“IMEI’s acquisition of BTAS provides a major growth opportunity for both our businesses through an extended service offering for our clients,” BTAS founder and CEO Gavin Jones added.
“As organisations begin their transition to a true mobile unified communication and collaboration solution, we will be best positioned to support them on that journey.”
Both parties expected definitive agreements to be completed by 28 February, with Jones to assume the role of head of unified communications within IMEI.
In addition, all BTAS operations and staff will be transferred to IMEI's headquarters in Frenchs Forest, Sydney.
Since launching in 2000, IMEI has developed into one of the country’s leading managed mobility servicer providers, leveraging strong ties with Telstra across the market.
As a Telstra enterprise partner, the business utilises access to enterprise support and network provisioning systems, to provide mobility management services to some of the telco giant’s largest enterprise customers.
Furthermore, the provider also partners with Microsoft, Citrix and Kaseya in the mobility management space, as well as device vendors such as Apple, Samsung, HTC and BlackBerry.
