Adelaide-based systems integrator, Vintek, has acquired Regal IT, a managed services provider based in Sydney.

In June, Vintek revealed that it was looking to acquire Hostworks early in the year, but lost the bid to Inabox “by just over $1 million”, according to Paul Vinton, Vintek’s founder and CEO.

Regal IT is an award winning company that partners with Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, Barracuda, Nutanix, CenturyLink, Arcserve and Shoretel.

“We felt Regal was a great fit to our vision to be a national Australian IT company and adds significant Citrix skills into our existing nationwide data centre business, Intervolve, and our managed services business, Vintek. It is all part of our strategic plan to be a $100 million-dollar business within five years,” Vinton said.

Intervolve is a cloud hosting solutions provider that was acquired by Vintek in February 2016.

The team of 22 Regal IT staff will remain in Sydney to grow the presence of Vintek in the area, Vinton told ARN. He said there are no plans to change the team and that Real IT director, Mark Gluckman, will become part of Vintek’s management team.

With the acquisition, Vintek will add enterprise remote access services to its burgeoning data centre, cloud and managed services pool. The Regal IT technical team provides extra depth and breadth to the Vintek and Intervolve technical teams.

“We certainly don’t want to sit still. It’s imperative that we continue to innovate and grow with a combination of natural growth and strategic acquisitions. I think there is more coming with possibly Perth and Melbourne next and we have some exciting announcements about international expansions in January,” Vinton added.

Back in June, Vinton told ARN that it was seeking to acquire managed service providers in order to expand its presence across the country.

Vintek’s top five verticals are across legal, Federal Government, finance, education and not-for-profit. The company is part of the Federal Government Cloud Services Panel.
