Company implements communications and collaboration system for the medical research institute

Empired has implemented a communications and collaboration system for not-for-profit medical research institute, Telethon Kids Institute.

Based in Western Australia, the team’s multidisciplinary approach to children’s health ranges across clinical research, laboratory sciences and epidemiology.

Before Empired deployed the new portal, built on Microsoft Office 365, the Institute had no existing methods for enabling collaboration between its geographically-diverse network of researchers.

The solution has integrated the Institute’s intranet, collaboration portal and mailbox that incorporates Office 365 features including Yammer, Delve and Search.

“Empired gave us a portal that we have named Telescope. Using this platform, our research teams can now work together to innovate and make a difference without the limitations imposed by geographic location or unsupported technology,” Telethon Kids Institute director of communications and development, Elizabeth Chester, said.

“Staff and researchers are now using modern, browser-based tools that are no longer limited by the technology or environment. Thanks to this, we can now undertake our research much more effectively, and have a greater potential to help drive children’s health.”
