Absolute has appointed Rick Ferguson to the role of Country Manager A/NZ.

It security company, Absolute, has made its first official foray into the Australian channel with the appointment of Rick Ferguson as its new A/NZ country manager.

Ferguson is charged with the strategic growth and development of Absolute in the region and said one of the main areas of focus is growing its local partner base and reinforcing existing OEM relationships.

“We will be targeting partners in the education, health, government and finance sectors, where we have traditionally been very strong,” he said.

The company has a long-standing distributor in Australia, InTechnology Solutions (based in Brisbane), which has been the company’s local point of contact until Ferguson’s appointment.

“I’ll be very much focussed on the InTechnology relationship and what we want is for it to be responsible for identification and enablement of the channel.

“It is a divide and grow approach whereby I will focus on the OEM relationships and have our distributor concentrate on identification and partner enablement.”

Absolute’s Persistence technology is embedded in the firmware of computers, netbooks, tablets and smartphones by manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Panasonic, Samsung, and Toshiba. The Company has reselling partnerships with these OEMs and others, including Apple.

Prior to joining Absolute, Ferguson served as vice-president of Asia Pacific for Nexsan Storage and Security Solutions, where he oversaw sales and marketing activities across the region. He has previously held management positions with Cisco Systems Australia and Palo Alto Networks in A/NZ.
