Dell has appointed former Channel Enablers' senior vice president and founder Geoff Wright to lead its A/NZ channel.

Wright, who starts in the role on Monday, has also worked with Microsoft Australia as director of channels, SMB and anti-piracy.

Dell managing director A/NZ, Angela Fox, told ARN, Wright's appointment was very important the business.

"We are experiencing strong growth in the channel business and we want Geoff to maintain and accelerate that growth," she said.

"I am very passionate about moving the business forward in Australia and New Zealand. We are committed to continuing to grow our business and the channel is a critical part of that."

Fox said Wright's appointment was a culmination of a significant search.

"It's a very important appoint for me and my first major channel announcement," she said.

"Geoff has a very deep knowledge and understands the market.

"He is well positioned to understand the opportunities and challenges of partners.

"He is also highly capable at executive level engagement and in the channel which is a great opportunity for us.

"We look forward to building strong partnerships and Geoff is going to be a critical part of that."

Fox said Wright would be responsible for engaging with strategic partners.

"He will become a key part of the positioning engagement on the end-to-end capability we have.

"He is a very important leadership appointment to my business."

From 1990-97 Wright was also UK distribution manager for Microsoft.

Following his time at Microsoft Geoff founded Channel Enablers, a global management consulting and training company with expertise in multi-channel routes to market.

The company helps technology vendors to transform their channel and alliance partnerships into a source of competitive advantage.

During Wright's time at the company, it grew from an Australian focused channel consulting organisation without any specific or unique intellectual property, to a global business with representatives in 10 different countries and a strong IP investment.

Wright has worked with clients including RSA, EMC, Checkpoint, Nokia, IBM, Cisco, Oracle, SAP, Symantec, Microsoft, HP, VMware, Red Hat, Quest, Activision and Sophos.
