Upcroft crowned Computerlinks A/NZ general manager

Company rebranding to Arrow ECS in the works

McAfee’s Robbie Upcroft has been named general manager of Computerlinks Australia, a move he said will let him focus and dedicate his time to an A/NZ role. He replaces Matin Kaddour, who has taken up a role at IBM in Singapore.

Computerlinks is in the process of rebranding due to its recent acquisition by US-based Arrow ECS, which is part of Arrow Electronics. Upcroft told ARN the company is not in a position to divulge local strategy or company details regarding the rebranding at this stage.

Upcroft, who was formerly at McAfee for over two years, heading up SMBs and distribution for Asia Pacific, said his time at the security vendor was memorable.

“The explosion in the security industry – the numbers of partners signing up and the amount of customers with issues showed there was a big demand for resellers. It was no longer an IT problem, but a business problem,” Upcroft said.

Prior to McAfee, Upcroft was with Microsoft for 11 years, working across a variety of roles in channel, sales and marketing in both Australia and in the UK.

Arrow ECS is a global distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions. It operates through a network of reseller partners including VARs, OEMs, Sis, ASPs and ISPs.
