Google has entered into a partnership with Teradata that will see the data analytics solutions vendor offer its Vantage cloud analytics platform on Google Cloud Platform from next year.

Vantage is a cloud-first analytics platform designed to run analytics across all types of deployments, including public cloud, hybrid, or multi-cloud environments.

“Bringing Teradata to Google Cloud means that customers who already use Teradata’s software can streamline their path to run on Google Cloud and take advantage of Google Cloud’s global infrastructure, security, scalability, and compute capabilities,” Google Cloud corporate vice president of global ecosystem Kevin Ichhpurani said in a blog post

“Furthermore, migrating from an on-premises analytics system to Vantage on GCP will be quick and low-risk because Vantage software is consistent everywhere, thus greatly simplifying the process,” he said.

Once Teradata’s expansion of its public cloud offerings to Google Cloud Platform, the company’s as-a-service capabilities will be available across the top three global public cloud providers – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

“Adding Google Cloud Platform to the global footprint already offered by Teradata will provide customers with unrivaled choice and flexibility with how and where they use Teradata Vantage,” Teradata vice president of product management at Ashish Yajnik said.

It is anticipated that Teradata Vantage on Google Cloud Platform will become available in 2020, with private previews set to commence during the first half of next year.

Meanwhile, Teradata is also adding native support for low-cost storage – via object stores Amazon S3, Azure Blob and, eventually, Google Cloud Storage. Native access to low-cost object stores is in private preview now, with general availability planned in the first half of 2020.

Additionally, Teradata is now offering a Hadoop Migration Program – a collection of tools, processes and services that help companies quickly move away from Hadoop, and will soon be adding consumption, or pay-as-you-go, pricing for Vantage users.

Consumption pricing for Teradata Vantage has limited availability now, with general availability planned in the first half of 2020.
