HCL Technologies and Google have expanded their existing cloud partnership, launching a new dedicated Google Cloud Business Unit in a bid to accelerate enterprise cloud adoption among customers.

The new arrangement will see the Indian headquartered integrator -- which has a substantial presence in the local market -- work with Google Cloud as a preferred enterprise cloud provider for a select range of vertical markets globally.

It is hoped that the new arrangement between will help HCL’s customers advance their digital transformation agendas through the use of Google Cloud Platform and Google Cloud solutions

"HCL and Google have a deep and long-standing relationship, and this new business unit is a strategic step forward in our partnership,” said HCL Technologies president and CEO C Vijayakumar. “I am confident that the Google Cloud Business Unit will accelerate execution of digital transformation of global organisations as well as incubate new IP and solutions that will redefine the market.”

According to HCL Technologies, its new dedicated business group will be supported by engineering, solutions, and business teams from Google Cloud.

Already, HCL has more than 1,300 professionals trained on Google Cloud and plans to ramp this capacity to more than 5,000 specialists in the near future. These specialists will provide expertise to enterprise customers in areas like containerisation, data and analytics, collaboration with G Suite and more, according to HCL.

For Google, the deal represents an expansion of its cloud business’s channel play, with the vendor claiming in a blog post to be “tremendously excited about the opportunity we have ahead to help the world’s most impactful organisations adopt and benefit the cloud”.

The company said that, together with HCL, it will focus on accelerating enterprise adoption of Google Cloud products and solutions, such as SAP workload and application migration to Google Cloud Platform, hybrid and multi-cloud deployments with Google Cloud’s Anthos and the adoption of leading Google Cloud solutions in areas like e-commerce, supply chain, and marketing.

“Through our partnership with HCL, we can help organizations deploy Google Cloud broadly and at scale, and move their most critical, data-intensive workloads to GCP,” said Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.
