ASG appoints Mike Duke as new QLD director

New hire replaces Stephen Kovacs

ASG Group has hired Mike Duke as new Queensland general manager, following the departure of Stephen Kovacs in June.

Kovacs came into ASG fold following the acquisition of SMS Management and Technology last year, where he spent more than 12 years with the company, before taking a career sabbatical, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Duke hails from Capgemini Australia where he was the director of energy and utilities - his experience also includes general manager and regional lead roles with CSC Australia, Logica and BHP.

ASG COO, Dean Langenbach, said Duke’s consulting and infrastructure experience was a "solid fit" for the provider's expanded capabilities since the SMS acquisition.

"In addition to Mike’s impressive management experience, he also has a deep understanding of partnering with large, blue-chip clients to deliver solutions that drive real business benefits,” he said.

Duke will be tasked with leading ASG’s Queensland business and expanding opportunities across the government and corporate sectors.

“ASG already has a strong foundation in Queensland and I am really looking forward to working with the team to deliver best of breed solutions for our customers in the region,” Duke added.

The appointment follows on from ASG’s $16.5 million contract with Queensland’s Unity Water to help migrate the organisation across to Microsoft Azure public cloud, and deliver infrastructure and application managed services.
