Cisco partner wins $4.8M contract in Gosford Hospital redevelopment

Beats out Telstra, Dimension Data and Fujitsu in competitive tender process

Sydney-based services provider, The Frame Group, has won a contract with the NSW Health Infrastructure department for the supply and installation of ICT equipment for Gosford Hospital.

The $4.8 million contract will see The Frame Group provide Cisco networking switches, wireless and video conferencing equipment to the hospital.

This contract is part of the New South Wales Government $348 million commitment to redevelop the Gosford Hospital.

“The redevelopment will deliver a major upgrade in public health services and facilities for the Central Coast community, including a new 11 storey building and new front entrance,” a Health Infrastructure spokesperson told ARN.

All Cisco equipment, which was acquired with the required licenses, will facilitate the communication in existing and new areas of the hospital including the new emergency department, new psychiatric emergency care centre and new and larger intensive care unit.

“The solution comprised of a campus network based on Cisco’s Medical Grade Network, which delivers security, mobility and collaboration capabilities that support clinical applications such as electronic medical record keeping, electronic medication management, duress alarms and patient WiFi; which are currently being implemented,” Cisco director - partner business group Australia and New Zealand, Tara Ridley, told ARN.

The Frame Group will be responsible for the design, configuration and commissioning the equipment as part of the contract.

The contract has the duration of two years as per the contract. According to NSW Health Infrastructure, the project is expected to take six months to be completed.

In addition, the contract includes the provision of optional operation and maintenance on a year-to-year basis.

“We look forward to delivering a successful outcome for the local community and all stakeholders," The Frame Group business developer director, Ben Croft, told ARN.

"The project is already off to a strong start, a key factor being the clear communication and collaboration between Frame, Health Infrastructure, Central Coast Local Health District, Lend Lease and partners."

Telstra, Dimension Data and Fujitsu were among the tenderers. The evaluation for the contract included both price (70 per cent) and non-price (30 per cent) criteria.

“The Frame Group has been a Cisco Gold Partner for close to 10 years and have deep expertise across the Cisco portfolio,” Ridley added.

“Cisco’s partnership with The Frame Group is focused on bringing specialist market knowledge and industry experience to customers, through a consultancy-style approach, in Australia’s transport, government, healthcare, education, finance and construction sectors; to deliver scalable, secure and reliable solutions.”

The Frame Group was established in 2000 with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Bangkok, in Thailand and a headcount of more than 100 staff.
