Karl Sice
Karl Sice has revealed plans to vacate his role as head of Winc Technology Solutions across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), exiting the provider after almost six years.
Formerly Staples Technology Solutions, ARN can confirm that the industry veteran will depart on Friday 15 September.
“After almost six years with the business, Karl has made the decision to look for opportunities outside of Winc and will first take a few months to spend quality time with his family,” a spokesperson for Winc told ARN.
“Karl has played an integral role in building the external profile of our business and successfully transitioning us from Staples Technology Solutions to Winc Technology.
“This decision was made in conjunction with a pivot on our existing strategy that will focus on the changing and ever increasing expectations of our customer base and our overall business wide digital transformation.
“Our Winc Technology team has gone from strength to strength in recent times and in the interim, Jarad Nass our head of solutions will lead the team while we search for a suitable replacement. We wish Karl all the very best on the next stages of his career journey.”
Since joining in May 2012, Sice has returned the business to growth on both sides of the Tasman, building out alliances with key vendors such as Microsoft, HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Dell EMC and Lenovo among others.
During his tenure, Sice spearheaded a local team which was awarded Lenovo Business Partner of the Year on two occasions - in 2015 and 2016 respectively - alongside operating as one of HP’s top three Platinum level partners across A/NZ.
In addition, Winc is a Platinum Dell EMC partner and was selected as a Microsoft Surface, Office 365 and Azure Solutions Partner in 2016, before taking on the CSP status in 2017.
A key part of Sice’s work involved creating industry-leading research and thought leadership events, designed to drive brand equity and opportunity growth through affiliate partnerships with the CEO Institute, AIM, CPA Australia and NSW Business Chamber.
Such an approach was recognised during the 2016 ARN ICT Industry Awards, when the then Staples took home the Best Partner Performance Initiative of the Year.
The provider was recognised for its work around customer experience at the CXO level, through a series of thought leadership campaigns and events which attracted over 70 new executive level customers.
Before taking on the Staples role, Sice was general manager of Acronis across Pacific and A/NZ, alongside sales and director roles at Gartner and Sun Microsystems respectively.
In addition, Sice has held management roles at American Express and Dell, working in markets spanning both sides of the Tasman, the US and across Asia Pacific, including Japan.
Sice’s exit comes after the Staples brand name across A/NZ was replaced by Winc, coming roughly five months after private equity investment firm, Platinum Equity, struck a deal to acquire the office supplies and IT services company’s local business.
