What’s next for Chris Price after Ingram Micro departure?

The channel veteran will leave at the end of September

Ingram Micro’s director of vendor management, Chris Price, will leave his role with the distributor at the end of September.

Price’s impending departure comes after several years in various roles within the distributor, including group general manager, vendor management, general manager, HP/HPE, and business manager, IBM/Lenovo.

The channel veteran’s multi-year tenure at Ingram Micro was broken up by an even longer eight-year stint at fellow distributor, Dicker Data, as the Australian-listed company’s commercial director.

He resigned from his role with Dicker Data in late 2014, picking up where he left off at Ingram Micro in early 2015, only this time heading up the HP and Lenovo business.

In June 2016, he was promoted to oversee all of Ingram Micro’s vendor management activities.

It remains to be seen what Price’s next move will be, although it is understood that he may take up residence on the vendor side of the local channel landscape.

Given Price’s recent history heading up the HP Inc. and Lenovo business at Ingram Micro, it is conceivable his next move may involve a post with one of the two vendors.

In Price’s absence, Ingram Micro’s vendor management team will report directly to the company’s chief country executive for Australia and New Zealand, Felix Wong, until a replacement is recruited.

“I’m grateful to Chris for his contribution to the success of Ingram Micro in the Australian marketplace and wish him all the best for his future,” Wong said.
