NOVA iT reveals results six months after first acquisition

Adds 10 customers in first half of the year

Victoria-based managed services provider (MSP) NOVA iT has seen significant growth in the six months following its first-ever acquisition.

In December 2016, NOVA iT acquired veteran MSP CMI Australia adding 20 new customers and 900 endpoints.

NOVA iT managing director, David Vidos, told ARN that the number of customers has now grown to 30, with the company also seeing a growth in profit, with a full review set to be completed after 12 months of the acquisition.

“The first few months have been about introducing ourselves and getting to know the clients, their systems and their needs.  We have not converted all of them to the NOVA way,” Vidos told ARN.

NOVA has also hired two new staff members to ensure the level of service customers were used to.

CMI helped NOVA iT to expand its business into manufacturing and education and will expose CMI’s customers to NOVA’s range of business improvement solutions. Vidos said the acquisition will help the company become “the largest MSP in Melbourne’s northern suburbs”.

CMI Australia was founded in 1991 and provided IT infrastructure solutions to businesses, education and government clients.

Vidos explained why NOVA chose to acquire CMI.

“I have known Phil for a number of years, I knew his business and the acquisition provided NOVA with opportunities for growth," he said. "After 20 year plus years in the industry you develop an eye for opportunities and how to make the most of them."

NOVA iT was founded in 2003 and is a partner of Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe, Cyberoam, VMware, Telstra and others, and started providing support to CMI’s customers as of 1 January 2017.

After the acquisition, CMI’s owner, Philip King, left the business to pursue new challenges.

“We’ve long known the owner of CMI Australia, Philip King and being entrusted with the future of his customers and lifelong friends is a real honour,” said Vidos.

According to a letter to customers on CMI Australia’s website, customers can count on NOVA for website hosting and domain registration, offsite disaster recovery solutions, managed antivirus, spam filtering, cloud servers and other solutions, managed support services, internet connections and remote, onsite and phone support.

NOVA also said it has another acquisition underway for 2017.

“It is our aim to become the IT partner of choice for local businesses. I also want to offer IT professionals a place to do what they love without having to travel hours just to get to work,” Vidos said.
