Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has named a new global channels boss following the resignation of Kerry Bailey as head of the worldwide indirect sales organisation for the enterprise group.

Former GE Digital channel chief, Denzil Samuels, is stepping into the role being vacated by Bailey, after just over a year in his prior job.

In an internal memo shared with ARN, the company said Samuels would be responsible for accelerating the execution of the company’s strategy around hybrid IT and the “intelligent edge,” in collaboration with all parts of its partner ecosystem.

“Denzil takes over this role from Kerry Bailey, who, after transitioning his responsibilities to Denzil, will be leaving HPE to pursue other opportunities in line with his long-term professional aspirations,” the memo said.

Bailey joined HPE in September 2013, following a six-year tenure at US-based telco, Verizon, where he held senior leadership positions including group president of cloud strategy and services, and president and CEO of Terremark.

Samuels joins HPE from General Electric (GE), where he served as the global head of channels, alliances, business development, and ventures for GE Digital.

According to the HPE memo, Samuels focused on using machine data to provide industrial companies with analytics and insights while in his role at GE, in addition to managing all the business's channel resellers globally.

Prior to his stint at GE, Samuels spent four years at Salesforce as senior vice president of worldwide partners and solutions.

Previously he held senior leadership roles at Siemens Enterprise, Northrop Grumman, Avaya, and Qwest Cyber Solutions.

"His [Samuels'] experience will be invaluable in driving HPE and partner growth related to Hybrid IT, the IoT, and the need for greater intelligence at the edge of the network," the internal memo stated.
