Dimension Data has launched its managed cloud services for Microsoft offering in Australia, adding the local market to the global list of countries where it offers the service.

The company developed the service following its acquisition of Toronto-based Ceryx in April 2016 and is now offering a cloud-based managed service for Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Skype for Business, and Office 365 globally.

Dimension Data end-user computing business general manager, Ed Phillips, suggested that managing hybrid enterprise requirements can be so complex that part of the support must be automated, or businesses may not realise the "full cost-saving benefits possible through hybrid cloud".

“Our Managed Cloud Services for Microsoft solution now enables management and automation of Office 365 that helps clients accelerate the use of the suite of Microsoft services, while helping to provide a greater end-user experience to their workforce,” he said.

Microsoft Australia Office director, Sharon Schoenborn, said the Dimension Data service would enhance the advanced security features in Office 365 and assist in accelerated adoption.

“Dimension Data’s Managed Cloud Services for Microsoft platform complements the new security and real-time threat detection capabilities of Office 365, and provides an additional control and management layer around the hybrid environment through visibility and access management,” Schoenborn said.

“The NTT/Dimension Data and Microsoft security centres also share live threat analysis data from our networks to provide the latest insights,” she said.

Phillips added that Dimension Data Australia will play a major role globally in creating new tool-sets and applications for the Microsoft managed service.

“Australia is the home of one of our global R&D hubs,” he said. “Our development team in Sydney specialises in Microsoft and will play a big part in evolving the solution roadmap.

“This local expertise, combined with our deep knowledge of the Microsoft environment and our cloud platform and management tools, mean we’re very excited about [our] Managed Cloud Services for Microsoft in this market.”
