Application performance infrastructure company, Riverbed Technology, has appointed Keith Buckley to the role of A/NZ regional vice-president. He will lead the region’s sales team and drive strategic operations, planning and the growth of Riverbed’s business in A/NZ.

Buckley succeeds Ian Raper, who has been appointed to the new role of Asia-Pacific and Japan vice-president of solutions.

Raper has led the A/NZ business for more than five years and has been a part of Riverbed since 2008.

In his new role, he will focus on solution selling to strategic accounts and aligning the Riverbed partner eco-system to support this transition as Riverbed continues its transformation to an end-to-end application performance platform provider.

He will also have a particular focus on supporting the company’s growth and expansion in India, China and Japan.

Buckley brings to the role more than 18 years’ experience, joining Riverbed from Intel Security (McAfee), where he served as its A/NZ managing director for the past three years.

Prior to that, he held senior leadership positions at EMC, Symantec and Dell. At EMC, he was its commercial and emerging markets general manager for almost a year. He was Symantec’s Pacific region regional director for more than three years.

At Dell, he held a number of roles. He was the regional sales manager between 2006 and 2009, as well as its global accounts senior account executive between 2005 and 2006, in addition to holding a number of other titles within the company.

Riverbed Asia-Pacific and Japan senior vice-president, Bjorn Engelhardt, said Buckley’s passion and leadership as a business manager will be invaluable as more companies turn to the company to help them transform application performance into a competitive advantage.

“Keith is an industry stalwart and is the ideal candidate to lead the Australian and New Zealand business at a time of rapidly evolving, highly complex and hybrid IT environments,” he added.
