Western Digital becomes newest Active Archive Alliance member

Joins the charge for always-on data access

Western Digital has joined the Active Archive Alliance, a US -based non-profit industry association dedicated to expanding awareness about evolving technologies that enable reliable and efficient online access to archived data.

As a member of the alliance, Western Digital, will collaborate with the likes of FujiFilm and HP to provide guidance to further the cause of the organisation.

Fujifilm Recording Media US chief executive and Active Archive Alliance chairman, Peter Faulhaber, said as the complexity of long-term data storage increases, end users were seeking to optimise IT infrastructures.

“Western Digital clearly understands this need and is bringing another dimension to the types of active archive solutions available with their innovative centralized management platform,” he added.

HGST Cloud infrastructure marketing vice-president, Barbara Murphy, said organisations needed rapid access to increasing amounts of data across multiple locations and platforms, and require real-time, easy access to data archives.

WD said its collaboration with the Active Archive Alliance will help drive deeper insights into the evolving landscape of data archiving and the need to instantly access data over longer periods of time.
