HGST inks strategic relationship with Commvault
Storage company and wholly owned and independently operated subsidiary of Western Digital Corporation, HGST’s Cloud infrastructure business, has entered into a strategic relationship with enterprise data protection and information management company, Commvault.
The partnership will enable HGST to receive Commvault software compatibility certification and brings to market an object storage solution with Cloud back-up.
This Commvault Simpana software, with native configuration and management support for the HGST Active Archive System, delivers a back-up solution that aims to solve data management at scale and provide access to data archives.
Commvault office of the CTO senior director, Don Foster, said its customers now have access to the HGST Active Archive System in conjunction with the data management intelligence that Commvault software provides to meet access, retention and archive management goals.
"HGST and Commvault have created a joint technology alliance for HGST and Commvault’s data management platform. HGST has become a fully qualified technology partner that has been validated, tested and supported by both parties," he said.
HGST Cloud infrastructure business unit vice-president of marketing, Barbara Murphy, mentioned the company’s relationship with Commvault provides a new level of scale and protection, so customers can better handle the demands of massive data growth, flat budgets and limited IT resources.
“In certifying our HGST Active Archive System with Commvault’s Simpana software suite, customers have access to a simple-to-scale object storage system that beats the economics of traditional Cloud infrastructures and provides enterprise-class back-up,” she added.
The HGST Active Archive System and Commvault Simpana software are both available in A/NZ. The solution is available through HGST channel partners.
