WatchGuard has appointed David Higgins as its new country manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Sydney, Higgins will be responsible for managing the company’s market presence in Australia and New Zealand, overseeing new revenue opportunities, and managing local customer and partner relationships.
According to a company statement, Higgins joins WatchGuard Technologies with more than 30 years’ experience in the IT industry in both direct sales and channel development for organisations including Trend Micro, Sophos, 3Com, ASK Solutions, Tech Pacific Australia and NEC Australia.
He most recently worked at Trend Micro for two years where he was Director, Business Development and Channels.
Prior, Higgins worked for over seven years at Sophos as director of sales during which time he evolved the company from a predominantly direct sales company to a channel focused sales operation.
He was also previously general manager, networking, at Tech Pacific Australia and worked in sales management roles for 3Com, Epson Australia and NEC Information Systems Australia.
Watchguard vice-president Asia Pacific, Scott Robertson, said Higgins' experience would be a major asset to WatchGuard.
"His proficiency in driving sales and developing business channels for multi-national sales organisations will greatly enhance the business strategies we are implementing as IT security continues to remain at centre stage among CIO priorities and becomes a critical factor in both the success of our partners and customers," he said.
“We also look forward to the positive impact David will have on driving successful go-to-market strategies within the channel community which will be an invaluable asset to WatchGuard as we continue to expand the role of our channel program in supporting our company’s growth across Australia and New Zealand."
