Independent Liquor Group is planning to rip out its Microsoft Dynamics enterprise resource planning system in favour of Syspro.

The Sydney-based alcohol supplier will ditch its Dynamics Navision accounting package and implement an integrated ERP system over the next seven months.

According to ILG, the previous system had become dogged by “manual and duplicated processes” over the last two years.

“There were various disconnected systems that failed to deliver accurate business analysis and month-end reporting was taking three weeks and many labour hours to complete,” the wholesaler claimed.

In addition, ILG also used a bespoke application called Licker to manage its three warehouses in Western Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville, which was also hampered by process duplication.

Following an approach to market, the company narrowed its options down to Oracle NetSuite and South African-headquartered Syspro, before deciding that the former’s platform “was[n’t] flexible enough to manage” the business' complexities.

“Access to accurate data and real-time reporting is crucially important to a liquor wholesaler and e-commerce business like ILG, as it is impossible for our mobile sales team to make timely decisions regarding stock holdings and deliveries without precise data integrity and the level of visibility that an integrated ERP system will provide us,” ILG CEO Paul Esposito said.

The Syspro system will integrate with ILG’s paperless warehousing system, e-commerce website and CRM system Rhino. The process will be carried out directly by Syspro without aid of an external service provider.

There will be 110 users interacting with the system across ILG’s three facilities, with more planned as the company plans to expand into Victoria and then South Australia.

"This move will make the process of expanding into Victoria and other states more straightforward for ILG as they will achieve greater efficiencies by eliminating manual process, removing duplication of data in multiple systems as well as ensuring data integrity across the whole business,” Rob Stummer, Syspro's recently appointed APAC CEO said.

“It’s an exciting time for ILG’s growing business and we are pleased to be integral to its digital transformation journey."

The new system is currently at the design stage with a final implementation deadline set for May next year.
