Cisco executive Nykaj Nair is moving on from Australia after more than a decade to take on a global role in the United States.

Nair, who has acted as a segment director for Australia and New Zealand small-to-medium-sized business for the 12 months, will now join Cisco’s global internet of things (IoT) specialist sales team.

Based at Cisco's headquarters in San Jose, Nair is expected to depart for the States by the end of the calendar year.

His vacated role has been filled by Luke Power, currently Cisco’s regional manager for NSW, who will report into the vendor’s A/NZ VP Ken Boal.

Originally based in India, Nair first moved to Brisbane to pursue an MBA in 2003 and then joined Ingram Micro two years later.

After three years with the distributor, Nair worked his way up the ladder in Cisco’s Adelaide office, holding a number of roles across SMB and enterprise.

In 2017, he moved to Sydney as SMB, distribution and channels head, before being promoted to segment director.

Meanwhile, Power first joined Cisco from McAfee in July 2017, where he was previously director of channel and inside sales across A/NZ.

He also spent five years at Avaya, working across the channel and distribution, finally finishing there as A/NZ COO in 2014.

Cisco was unable to comment on the moves.
