Open source software vendor SUSE has appointed Charlie Yates to the role of country director for Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Melbourne, he takes over from Harry Kingma, who remained at Micro Focus as alliances manager A/NZ following the sale of the SUSE business.
Yates said his focus will be on achieving significant growth for the SUSE business and delivering successful outcomes for customers.
“SUSE is the trusted and preferred partner for SAP S/4HANA migration and clearly this presents a huge opportunity for us as we help customers unlock their business values and potential with our open source platform.
“Further, we want to help customers in their digital transformation with our agile, enterprise-grade open source solutions, edge to core to cloud. All these with the help of our dedicated SUSE team, the communities and partners.”
Yates' previous experience in the industry include roles as director of enterprise and government A/NZ at Citrix, regional sales director A/NZ at Siemens PLM Software, sales director for BPM/analytics at IBM and strategic account manager for dynamics ERP at Microsoft.
Andy Jiang, vice president and general manager Asia Pacific and Japan for SUSE said Yates’ appointment is significant for the company, representing the company’s expansion into the A/NZ region.
“As a proven leader, Charlie truly understands what it means to be customer centric and employee focused," Jiang said. "We are committed and dedicated to ensuring our customers in Australia and New Zealand receive the best support and advice around open source.
“Charlie’s extensive experience in technology puts him in a strong position to support and work with our resellers and customers on delivering SUSE’s open source technology and solutions in this region.”
