Kyocera Document Solutions has acquired Sydney-based ICT services provider Huon IT in a bid to expand its services capability in the market.

Huon IT is a 30-year old business that has three offices in Belrose NSW, North Sydney and Melbourne. Its services offering spans IT systems design, implementation and project management; managed services; private, hybrid and public cloud services; cyber security; disaster recovery and software development.

The acquisition on Kyocera’s part is in response to the market moving on from managed document services to more comprehensive IT infrastructure development and management services.

In conjunction with Huon’s ICT services, Kyocera also plans to offer enterprise content management solutions, which automates and streamlines workflows.

“The acquisition of Huon IT is part of Kyocera’s ongoing strategy to support Australian businesses as we drive change and expand our own business,” Kyocera Document Solutions Australia managing director Ryosuke Okochi said.

“We are confident that we can add value to our customers with expanding our product offering and a new choice in ICT services.  Huon IT services will integrate into our business offering with their high performance ICT solutions that complement our own values and commitment to our customers. “

Huon IT CEO and founder Damian Huon said with Kyocera’s support, it can reach heightened levels of innovation, expand services, and reach new markets, both in terms of location and verticals.

“I’m incredibly honoured to now be part of the Kyocera Group. Huon IT has seen significant growth in the past couple of financial years, so this integration will galvanise the next phase of company growth, via national team expansion and introduction into Kyocera’s strong client base,” Huon said.
