IT hosting infrastructure and telecommunications services provider TasmaNet has appointed Elizabeth Aris as its new CEO.
Aris steps into the role being vacated by Joel Harris as of 15 June. Harris was with the Tasmania-based company for 10 years having contributed to its growth. The company said he decided to "seek new opportunities".
The new CEO, who joined the business in April, is a senior business executive and non-executive director with experience in the US, Asia-Pacific and Australia in telecommunication, technology and retail banking.
She has previously worked with Telstra, Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia) and Westpac and consulted to Microsoft and Sprint.
She developed a new SaaS business from concept to capital raising and governance, technology building and all operations. Aris has also worked with a small team of global telecommunication experts led by Sol Trujillo on a number of major projects and was an adviser to the CEO of Sprint, according to TasmaNet.
Last week, the provider revealed it signed its largest Enterprise Ethernet NBN order to date to with the Catholic School of Tasmania.
TasmaNet uses the NBN Co service to deliver speeds of up to 1Gbps. The provider is one of six NBN resellers accredited to provide the product. The other resellers are Aussie Broadband, Macquarie Telecom, Superloop, TPG and Virtuatel.
"TasmaNet connected the first NBN Enterprise Ethernet service in Australia earlier this year after being among the first providers accredited to sell the new product, and has recently sold the largest deal to date to the Catholic Education Office in Tasmania," said Aris.
"We have developed robust systems that allow us to deliver multiple upgraded connections quickly, and our direct relationship with NBN Co as a wholesale provider means we can manage complex projects with minimal service interruption to customers. Our customers enjoy internet connections far better than the regular NBN product, for a similar price."
