Mantel Group has acquired CMD Solutions, a Sydney-based cloud and automation consulting firm with deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Terms of the deal - which were not disclosed - sees the Melbourne-based business add a fourth brand to its growing portfolio of specialist providers, which also includes DigIO, Eliiza and Kasna.

Launched in 2015, CMD Solutions specialises in DevOps and cloud automation, alongside virtualisation, disaster recovery and business continuity, delivered through professional services.

The business was founded by Andre Morgan, Adam Durbin and Fabio Carvana, with key customers including NIB, Origin and NAB.

According to Con Mouzouris - CEO of Mantel Group - the acquisition aligns to an “aggressive growth strategy” in Australia, centred around becoming a leading technology provider.

“Having CMD Solutions join our team is a key milestone in our strategy and bolsters our capability in cloud technology across Melbourne and Sydney,” Mouzouris said. “CMD Solutions share common values and objectives in shaping the future of their business and we can’t wait to work with the team.

“For Mantel Group, it demonstrates our commitment to service our clients nationally. It’s also an important phase in our young business to solidify our ability to grow fast in different ways.”

From a technology perspective, CMD Solutions operates as an Advanced Consulting Partner with AWS, backed up by vendor alliances with Microsoft, VMware, Trend Micro and Tenable, as well as Okta, CloudHealth, Cloud Conformity, SumoLogic and Datadog.

For Morgan, speaking as managing director of CMD Solutions, the acquisitions allow the business to provide a broader set of offerings to customers across the country.

“The move is a strategic one,” Morgan said. “We’ve always focused on helping our clients to transform and this will help us achieve that at a larger scale across a broader technology set.

“The move will enable our next phase of growth across regions. It was important for us to find a company that had a similar culture and shared our philosophy around technology, people and customer delivery - Mantel Group is therefore a perfect fit.”

Going forward, Mouzouris said both providers will “work together” to grow cloud solutions and services from across Sydney and Melbourne, with an “immediate focus” on growth.

“We’re looking forward to supporting CMD Solutions’ team growth in Melbourne and Sydney,” Mouzouris added. “We will shortly move into a new Sydney office and introduce our other brands (DigIO, Eliiza and Kasna) into Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra.”

As revealed by ARN, Mantel Group first launched in Australia and New Zealand in February 2018.

Headquartered in Melbourne, the provider’s foundation businesses – DigIO and Eliiza – leverage emerging technologies such as digital, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with both accredited partners of AWS and Google Cloud Platform.

Meanwhile, newly created Kasna is a Premier Partner of Google Cloud, targeting mid-market and enterprise customers.
