Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute will be available at NextDC’s Perth-based data centre (P1) this month, providing customers with direct and private connections to Microsoft services including Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365.
This is the second peering point to support Microsoft ExpressRoute, following the M1 Melbourne data centre.
NextDC customers will be able to connect to ExpressRoute directly via the AXON virtual connectivity platform from P1 and also via a P2 connectivity microsite located in East Perth.

WA-based companies will benefit from the new ExpressRoute location in providing them with greater flexibility and choice for their connectivity services between Azure data centres and their in-house infrastructure, as well as metro, national and international links like the Indigo submarine cable that connects to P2 Perth.
In November, NextDC landed a deal with Superloop, providing access to the new Indigo subsea cable system for both of its Perth (P1 and P2) and Sydney (S1 and S2) data centres.
In October, NextDC said it was pressing ahead with a compulsory acquisition of its landlord Asia Pacific Data Centre (APDC) Group after securing 97 per cent of shares.
The data centre operator will pay APDC shareholders $2.00 per share and a total of $154 million to 360 Capital Group, which owns 67.3 per cent.
