Gemalto has strengthened channel capabilities across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) through the appointment of Tech Data as distributor.

The agreement sees the vendor offer up access to a suite of digital security technologies and services, including advanced authentication, cloud access, data encryption and encryption key management.

“The strength of Tech Data’s next-generation security solutions lies in their proactive approach to security threats, and their ability to arm their partners with the knowledge and skills they need to protect their customers,” said Graeme Pyper, regional director, at Gemalto.

“With the addition of Gemalto’s complete authentication and data protection solutions, Tech Data’s partners can now offer their end-user customers industry-leading data protection solutions and services that are in high demand in the region and enable enterprises to effectively address their evolving business, security and privacy objectives.”

Specialising in digital security, Gemalto offers expertise across software, biometrics and encryption, leveraging 40 personalisation and data centres, and 35 research and software development centres located in 47 countries.

From a channel perspective, the vendor currently has an ecosystem of more than 400 partners globally, spanning resellers, system integrators and service providers.

“Digital security offerings are presenting an immense opportunity for the channel given the increased security risks we’re seeing at all levels–from individual identities to corporate and government information,” said Wendy O’Keeffe, country general manager of A/NZ at Tech Data.

“Gemalto’s leading identity and data protection portfolios, coupled with Tech Data's in-depth expertise and complementary technology offerings will enable us to create best-in-class security solutions for our partners.”

The signing up of Gemalto comes days after Tech Data partnered with cross-platform solutions provider Parallels in a move designed to drive channel adoption across A/NZ.

Terms of the agreement will see Tech Data distribute a solution set which spans remote application servers, desktop for Mac and Mac management for Microsoft offerings.
