Former Lenovo channel and small to medium-sized business (SMB) sales director for Australia and New Zealand Frederic Viet has stepped into a new role as a strategic partner lead at Amazon Web Service (AWS).

The move sees Viet return to Australia from France, where he was channel director, West, for Veritas Technologies, a role he held from mid-2016 until at least May this year.

Viet stepped into the Paris-based Veritas role shortly after departing as Microsoft’s Surface Commercial Channel Lead in Australia, a move revealed in May 2016, with Microsoft at the time appointing Brett Murray to replace Viet in the local role.

Viet’s departure from Microsoft came only months after he came across to the software giant from Lenovo, where he spent just over a decade, his final role with the vendor being channel and SMB sales director in Australia and New Zealand.

While at Lenovo, he also served as A/NZ channel sales manager and sales director, large accounts.

Now, according to Viet’s LinkedIn profile, the Lenovo veteran has returned to Australia, stepping into a new role as a strategic partner lead at AWS.

Viet’s appointment comes nearly three months after former AWS’ head of channels and alliances in Australia and New Zealand Stefan Jansen was named as the cloud services provider’s new head of training and certification in the local A/NZ region.

Jansen’s move came after more than four years at the helm of the company’s channel business, first as its partner business development manager for A/NZ and, from early 2015, as head of channels and alliances in A/NZ.

Like Viet, Jansen also spent time at Microsoft. Indeed, Jansen came to AWS from Microsoft Australia, where he held a number of roles over several years, including the position of head of Dynamics partner sales for just over three years prior to his move to the cloud services provider in 2013.

It should be noted that Viet's new role understood to be unrelated to Jansen's previous role as head of channels and alliances in A/NZ.
