MapR hunts for new A/NZ alliances boss

The move comes after MapR's former Sydney-based global alliances and channels director, Guy Baldwin, left the company

MapR is searching for a new alliances director in Australia and New Zealand, with the new recruit set to define and execute the company’s partner strategy for the local A/NZ market.

The move comes after the converged data platform vendor’s former Sydney-based global alliances and channels director, Guy Baldwin, left the company to become the Asia Pacific and Japan channels and alliances director for Snowflake Computing.

“We wish Guy all the best in his new role and thank him for the value he brought to MapR,” a MapR spokesperson told ARN.

The new role that the California-headquartered big data specialist is looking to fill will ultimately report to the company’s international markets alliances and channel senior director, Derek Judge, who is based in Singapore.

The lucky candidate will work with key global technology partners such as Amazon, Cisco, Google, Microsoft, and SAP, as well as leading local channel partners, including NTT Data.

“This is a strategic channel role, focused on driving business growth in A/NZ,” the spokesperson said.

According to a position description posted by the company on its website, the ideal candidate will take responsibility for defining and executing partner strategy for the A/NZ market, together with the MapR A/NZ sales team.

MapR launched a new partner program to respond to expansion momentum in the A/NZ region in mid-2016, with the company’s Converge Partners program made up of three tiers: Affiliate; Preferred and Elite.

MapR said at the time that the main benefits of the program were enablement and strategic support with both marketing and sales alignment.

“The targeted nature of the MapR Converge Network partner program is designed to promote, build, and deliver the benefit of Converged Data Platform Solutions to customers leveraging the collective strength of consulting firms, software manufactures and technology vendors,” Baldwin said at the time.

“As industries and businesses adopt the MapR Converged Data Platform as a foundation for increasingly critical business processing and as a platform to close the loop between large datasets of historical information and streams of real-time information the support of a vibrant partner ecosystem becomes vital,” he said.
