Just over a year after landing in Australia, DevOps and cloud transformation consultancy, Contino, has revealed it has agreed to acquire local Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Microsoft partner, Nebulr.
With a 50-person-strong team spread across offices in Melbourne and Sydney, Nebulr has made a name for itself as a DevOps and cloud consultancy, counting Red Hat, Trend Micro and Splunk among its vendor partners, along with AWS and Microsoft.
The company also has a particular focus in the areas of big data, as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Both companies share AWS as a core element of their business models.
The deal – the value of which remains under wraps – is expected to help bolster Contino’s presence as a transformation consultancy of note in the local region.
The acquisition will see Nebulr CEO, Craig Howe, become Asia Pacific managing director for Contino, with the combined APAC team set to total 65 staff, as part of a global team of over 200 across the US, Europe and APAC.

The UK-founded Contino first established operations in Australia in early 2017, with the opening of its first new office for the trans-Tasman region in Melbourne.
At the time, the company’s UK-based former DevOps principal consultant, Daniel Williams, was charged with heading up the local operation, being appointed as Asia Pacific director of engineering. Williams left the company late last year.
Now, it is expected that the new capabilities, skills and mutual customer opportunities arising from the acquisition will allow for considerable expansion opportunities in the APAC region, with all three of the largest banks in Australia now coming under the Contino umbrella as a result.
For Howe, Contino’s global footprint, extensive intellectual property (IP) and experience sets the company apart in the field of DevOps, making it a good fit for Nebulr.
