Thomas Duryea Logicalis (TDL) has appointed former Juniper Networks executive, Brett White, as its new chief security officer (CSO).

White will be primarily responsible for driving the company's new CSO as-a-service offering to board level executives and business leaders from SMEs to large enterprises as TDL works to build its security practice.

TDL first announced a restructure of the business in May following the completion of the integration of Logicalis and Thomas Duryea.

As part of that restructure, TDL announced two business areas of focus: digital transformation and service delivery. The security practice falls under digital transformation along with hybrid infrastructure, modern workspace and data and analytics.

“Brett’s newly-created role will provide executive level advice and guidance, bridging the gap between government regulation and available in-house security resources needed to achieve compliance to Australian information security standards,” TDL CEO, Michael Chanter, said. “A strategic hire for the security practice, Brett will be a real asset to TDL’s continued growth.”

White joins TDL from Juniper Networks where he was a senior security specialist. He was previously pre-sales architect at Palo Alto Networks for almost three years and security and network architect at Telstra for three years.

He also spent five years working for Ixia and Agilent technologies in Germany.

White reports to TDL national security practice manager, Gavin Coulthard.

“Organisations that don’t have an in-house CSO resource are grappling with developing a security strategy that complies with government regulations on securing and protecting data privacy,” Coulthard said.

“In addition, an industry-wide shortage of security practitioners is having direct impact on security lifecycle strategy development.”
