Dicker Data has signed a distribution agreement with enterprise wireless network vendor, Ekahau, spanning markets across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Effective January 2018, the distributor will now market, sell and support the vendor’s full product portfolio, which includes Wi-Fi planning and measurement solutions.

“Together with Dicker Data, we will be able to provide resellers with industry-leading Wi-Fi diagnostics and measurement software and devices built to work with any access point,” Ekahau sales director of Asia Pacific, Antony Prasad, said.

“This includes Cisco, Aruba and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, helping customers design, deploy, validate and maintain better Wi-Fi.”

According to Prasad, Wi-Fi has become the “de-facto carrier” for cloud, the Internet of Things (IoT), video and cellular data offloading.

“These mission-critical business applications are pushing the performance boundaries of Wi-Fi networks, and thus they must be designed and deployed with increased precision and capacity,” Prasad added.

Headquartered in Virginia, USA - with research and development (R&D) and product related functions predominantly located in Helsinki, Finland - Ekahau specialises in enterprise wireless network design and planning, with more than 15,000 customers worldwide.

From a technology perspective, the vendor’s software and hardware solutions design and manage wireless networks, specialising in enterprise grade deployments.

“Our presence in the networking space has grown substantially and the technologies Ekahau bring to market will help our partners to ensure they’re deploying the right solutions for each of their customers’ environments,” Dicker Data chairman and CEO, David Dicker, added.

“Furthermore, the Ekahau range underpins a unique service offering for our partners to survey their new and existing customer sites to uncover new networking opportunities.”

The appointment comes after the vendor reported a fourth consecutive year of double-digit sales growth in 2017, driven by a 25 per cent increase in year-on-year new customer acquisitions, including 30 per cent of Fortune 500 companies.

“The Ekahau range of tools and solutions, paired with Dicker Data’s expertise in networking solutions, means our partners are now perfectly placed to uncover new networking opportunities and deploy great Wi-Fi networks and experiences,” Dicker Data COO, Vlad Mitnovetski, added.

Through Ekahau, local partners can now better scope, design and deploy Wi-Fi networks across next-generation devices, IoT, services and solutions across a wide range of industries.

“The design, diagnostics and measurement tools from Ekahau, enables partners to generate new revenue streams from site surveys for existing and new sites, at the same time ensuring customers have the best Wi-Fi experience,” Dicker Data business manager of networks, Tony Tran, told ARN.

“Along with product solutions, Dicker Data will be working on delivering training with Ekahau to ensure our partners are able to fully utilise the tools and get the right results for customers.”
