Sophos appoints Steven Sparshott as A/NZ sales engineer manager

Joins from Check Point

Sophos has appointed former Check Point executive, Steven Sparshott, as sales engineer manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Sydney, Sparshott will be responsible for managing the development of the A/NZ pre-sales team, focused on more effectively engaging with the channel to drive new business opportunities, according to the endpoint and network security vendor.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry having work for Unisys, Dell, Symantec, Check Point and others.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Sophos at such an important junction for the business,” Sparshott said. “The security market is evolving fast, and Sophos has the background and skillset required to answer business demand for a new way of detecting and protecting themselves.

“Sophos is already making waves in the market, I’m looking forward to joining the team and enabling further growth in my new role,” Sparshott added.

He started out as a technical manager for Retail Computer Systems. From 1998 to 2001 he worked for Unisys as a network systems engineer, and then he spent four years working for Dell Australia as a systems consultant.

From 2005 to 2011 he worked for Symantec later moving on to BMC Software. In 2014 He joined Dell EMC as senior manager pre sales for A/NZ. And he was most recently Check Point Software’s Northern sales engineer manager for almost two years.

“In a rapidly changing IT environment, it’s more important than ever to be able to see the solutions that are the best fit for promoting our client’s business objectives and maximising their customer satisfaction,” Sophos’ A/NZ general manager, Ashley Wearne, said.

“With his customer focus and in-depth technological knowledge, Steven is the perfect addition to our team to help drive business growth and spearhead the adoption of Intercept X and our new XG Firewall.”
