Ricoh Australia has named former Fuji Xerox Australia marketing executive general manager, Simon Lane, as its new Australia production printing business country manager.

In his new role, Lane will oversee the entire Ricoh production portfolio in Australia, including digital cut sheet, wide format, continuous feed and software solutions.

According to Ricoh Australia’s general manager for sales, David Phillips, Lane will be accountable for the sales results, while ensuring the Ricoh production print business is sustainable over the longer term.

“Simon has worked in the digital print industry for more than 15 years, both on the vendor and client side, and has unique insights in to how Ricoh can best support our Production printing customers.  We’re delighted to have him join the business,” Phillips said.

Lane spent more than a decade with Fuji Xerox Australia in a number of senior sales and marketing roles, including graphic communications national manager, strategic accounts business manager and production printing systems marketing manager.

Prior to his time at Fuji Xerox, he led PMP Limited’s book printing start-up, dbooks.

Most recently, Lane was CEO of a sales and marketing practice he formed in 2015, The Spitfire Group, working with clients in medical, technology, construction and manufacturing industries.

His latest move sees him return to his production printing roots.

“I’m thrilled to join Ricoh,” Lane said. “This company has fantastic solutions, great people and an absolute commitment to meeting customer needs.

“Smart marketing managers are rediscovering that tactics such as direct mail get genuine cut-through and achieve results.

"The new technologies being released by Ricoh only reinforce that power, and I’m looking forward to reacquainting myself with our client base and helping show them how to compete and win in the changing world of marketing communications."

For Ricoh Australia managing director, Andy Berry, Lane represents a valuable asset for the business.

“We are delighted that Simon has joined Ricoh,” Berry said. “His skillset and experience of both growth companies and large multinationals will be invaluable as we drive our revenue growth and enhance momentum for Ricoh as a leading player in the production printing market."
