Dialog IT expands Victorian presence with new Geelong office

New Geelong office will employ most of the 200 jobs previously promised

Dialog Information Technology has expanded its presence in Victoria with the opening of a new office in Geelong.

The new office is part of the Brisbane-headquartered company’s commitment to add 200 new jobs to the Victorian digital technology sector, announced in April.

At the time, Dialog IT had announced the Innovation Factory, a hub set to boost Victoria’s tech sector by an additional 200 high-skilled jobs.

The Innovation Factory was expected to focus on new business practice areas with Dialog committing to work with local universities to fill 30 new graduate positions, bringing its Victorian workforce to more than 600.

Dialog was established in 1979 and is part of the Dialog Group, which owns other businesses such as the Sydney-based Access HQ, a quality assurance and software testing company, Catapult BI, a business insight and data management consultancy, multimedia company Icemedia, Moonwalk, a data management company and Lynx IT, an IT services provider and Microsoft partner.

The new office means that a “good share” of those 200 jobs will be at Geelong, the company said in a statement.

Furthermore, the opening will also provide local expertise in digital, accessibility, cloud computing, managed application services, mobile and analytics.

Dialog already provides Geelong customers with mobile application development, digital consulting and business analysis services.

“A big draw card for us in selecting Geelong has been the State and Federal government investment being put into in setting up a social insurance hub in the city,” Dialog principal Brian Fitzpatrick said.

“We believe our investment in the local Geelong market will better enable the region to cope with the increased demand for skills as new large organisations such as WorkSafe and the NDIS settle in.”
