Symantec joins Ingram Micro cloud roster in SMB market push

Symantec joins Ingram Micro cloud roster in SMB market push

Adds to vendor’s existing Westcon deal

Ingram Micro Australia is now offering Symantec’s Endpoint Protection Cloud (SEPC) on its cloud marketplace in a push to target the local small to medium business (SMB) market.

The deal extends the distributor’s existing relationship with the cyber security company to include the cloud product. Ingram already has access to Symantec’s on-premise solutions.

“We are pleased to extend our longstanding relationship with Symantec with their endpoint protection cloud solution, now available through our automated cloud marketplace, and provide our resellers additional tools and support to secure their clients’ most important data," Ingram Micro general manager cloud and software, Lee Welch, said.

“Through the extended relationship with Symantec, Ingram Micro channel partners can now efficiently configure and manage leading security solution from a single automated platform.

“By leveraging the flexibility and scalability of the Cloud Marketplace, channel partners are positioned to capitalise on this growing market opportunity and deliver businesses a comprehensive solution to reduce vulnerabilities and security risks for endpoint systems,” he said.

The SEPC is a single cloud-based console for endpoint protection, management, mobility, and encryption designed for the SMB market.

Rival distributor, Westcon, is also offering the solution to its partner base, and Westcon APAC VP of cloud and services, Darryl Grauman, said the product was purpose-built to meet the "new normal" of security, enabled and challenged by the evolution of cloud.

“With over two billion data breaches last year, security must be a priority for everyone,” he added.

While Ingram partners are able to purchase the product now, Westcon partners will have to wait until mid-February to get their hands on the new product.

Speaking to ARN in November 2016, Symantec cyber security strategy manager APJ, Nick Savvides, said that following the integration of Blue Coat technologies, and new offerings the vendor had developed, partners should now look to migrate customers to cloud-based security to access the increased revenue that monitoring can provide.

“We are elevating the skills of our people to enable the partner to deliver higher value services in first of all rolling out the infrastructure and then managing the response,” he said.
