Data protection and recovery software vendor, Arcserve, has appointed ACA Pacific as its new distributor in Australia, following its breakup with Dicker Data in October.
Effective immediately, ACA Pacific will distribute the entire portfolio of Arcserve solutions, including the Arcserve Unified Data Protection (UDP) and the new Arcserve UDP 8000 Appliance.
Arcserve was originally on Dicker Data's portfolio following the company’s acquisition of Express Data in February 2014.
According to Dicker Data chief operating officer, Vlad Mitnovetski, the distribution agreement was terminated with Arcserve to realign the company’s focus on its Veritas and StorageCraft relationships.
“The combined revenue impact by removing both Arcserve and Cloud Recover will be under 0.1 per cent.
“Our relationships with Veritas and Storagecraft are delivering material year-on-year growth from both a revenue and profitability perspective, and with the increased commitment and focus we’re now offering to these vendors, we’re expecting that trend to continue," Mitnovetski said previously.
Arcserve Asia-Pacific regional director, Caddy Tan, said the decision for a new direction with ACA Pacific was based on the need for a “fresh approach”.
“We have been reviewing our plans on how to maximise the full potential of this key regional market and decided a fresh approach was required in order-to take our business to the next level," Tan said.
“A key component of this was to change our distribution set up to bolster our partner network and we quickly identified ACA Pacific as being the ideal distribution partner for us moving forward."
ACA Pacific managing director, Mark Gill, said the vendor “fits the bill’ as it offers technology of high calibre within the data protection space.
“With a portfolio that supports physical, virtual and cloud environments, we are confident of helping Arcserve to accelerate its growth in Australia and make it a win-win situation for both parties,” Gill said.
Since Arcserve’s spin-out from CA Technologies, the company has built out its portfolio, adding appliance and cloud offerings in a bid to offer a “one-stop shop” for cloud, virtual and physical environments.
