Exclusive Networks has launched its first stand alone distribution subsidiary across Australia and the Pacific region, honing in on the expanding data centre market.

Unveiled as BigTec, the division aims to help local resellers capitalise on new opportunities around virtualised, software-defined and web-scale IT.

With Nutanix as its foundation vendor, the distributor has also recently added data management company, Rubrik, to its roster with more vendors set to follow in the coming weeks.

BigTec Pacific managing director, Dominic Whitehand, said the concept of the private data centre has been fractured into a hybrid mix of on-premise hardware, multi-cloud services and virtual network functions, due to the emergence of cloud.

“IT directors - and the trusted IT partners serving them - are struggling to make sense of which new technology opportunities they should pursue with limited time, resources and expertise,” Whitehand told ARN.

“They need to deliver any application and any workload, on any infrastructure, at any given time, to/from any place - but not at any cost. How do they do that? This is what drives BigTec.”

For Whitehand, the launch of the business division comes as businesses demand greater agility across Australia, with the market reaching a “tipping point” with nearly 50 per cent of all enterprise IT infrastructure now cloud-based.

According to IDC research, this figure is expected to grow to 70 per cent by 2020.

Based in Sydney, Whitehand said local operations will also be complemented by team members in Melbourne, forming part of the global BigTec division of the Exclusive Group.

Whitehand said the new value-added distribution business is focused on infrastructure opportunities that facilitate the new breed of web-scale applications, while addressing the necessities of dynamic scaling, orchestration and management within a next generation software-defined data centre.

“BigTec Pacific is a unique player in the Australian market, and the latest expansion of a global Exclusive Group division that already has 12 other offices in Europe, Middle East and Africa,” he added.

“Running in parallel to our cybersecurity-focused Exclusive Networks operations, BigTec Pacific is a distinct proposition with its own team and expert technical resources.”

Globally speaking, BigTec represents vendors such as Array Networks, Avi Networks, Nuage Networks, Nutanix, Pluribus, Rubrik, Silver Peak, Tegile, vArmour and VMTurbo.

“BigTec is proving to be a global success, creating demand and meeting true market need with intelligent solutions and a powerful vision for the future of enterprise IT infrastructure,” Exclusive Group COO, Barrie Desmond, added.

“Through BigTec Pacific, and our other operations in this region, our value-driven approach is helping reseller partners profit from market change, achieve differentiation and convert new revenues.

“They can approach customers with confidence that a working, reliable and scalable approach to these challenges is not only available, but de-risked too.”

Looking ahead, Whitehand told ARN that more details on the BigTec Pacific vendor portfolio will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
