VMware will play a pivotal part in the growth of Dell Technologies - the combined Dell and EMC entity - with the vendor’s hybrid Cloud strategy central to its progress.

At VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas, Dell chairman and CEO, Michael Dell, moved to quash doubts over the future of the virtualisation specialists, following months of speculation as to how and where it fits post Dell’s acquisition of EMC.

“The breadth and depth of our ecosystem, and this opportunity for us, is tremendous since we announced the formation of Dell Technologies, bringing together EMC and VMware,” Michael Dell said.

“The open ecosystem of VMware is absolutely critical to this puzzle. We’re only going to continue to encourage the business down that path.”

Specifically, Michael Dell outlined his support for VMware’s innovation in Cloud, through its Cross-Cloud Architecture, which allows customers to manage, govern and secure applications running across public Clouds, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.

Following a failed attempt to take in the leading Cloud providers in the market, VMware has now turned to making it easier for customers to adopt Cloud architecture.

“VMware’s hybrid Cloud strategy is going to offer customers power,” Michael Dell added.

“We’ve been focused on making hybrid Cloud easier and more deployable. Working together, this community is going to proliferate.”

As a result, Michael Dell said VMware will continue to accelerate adoption within this space, in a bid to meet ongoing customer demand.

“There’s tremendous growth in converged and hyper-converged for the reason that customers want an easy to adopt model,” he explained.

“This plays very much into what we see as big pockets of market demand. VMware always had this incredibly hybrid ecosystem and only an ecosystem of this size and power can pull this off.”

According to Michael Dell, this ecosystem stands to become even stronger in the years ahead.

Citing digital transformation, the fourth industrial revolution and the explosion of data and devices, the application of analytics as well is widely expected to contribute to a new wave of growth across the industry.

“With all these new technologies, we are at the fulcrum of human progress in the world,” he added.

“Further along our journey, I’m looking forward to more growth.”
