BT inks new contract with Exact

Telecommunications company, BT, has forged a new contract with Cloud and business software provider, Exact. The move is in addition to other new partnerships it inked recently, including Salesforce and Panalpina.

The four-year deal will see BT design, build and manage a fully secure global network for the company, covering the creation of an integrated IT infrastructure supporting internal applications and services used by Exact’s 1600 employees in 14 countries across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia.

BT will also provide connectivity into the global datacentres hosting Exact’s business applications and data, leveraging BT Cloud Connect for a high performance network connection to Microsoft Azure.

In addition, BT will provide extensive, Cloud-based protection against cyber threats, blocking known and zero-day threats before they reach the network. Lastly, BT will take over and manage Exact’s in-office fixed and wireless networks and help drive employee productivity by providing voice, video, conferencing and remote access services.

Exact chief financial officer, Onno Krap, said the company was looking for a network partner capable of delivering an end-to-end global infrastructure that has the flexibility to scale with its business and support it in the continuous drive for digital innovation.

Krap said the company will benefit from this global, highly secure IT infrastructure.

“BT’s global strengths, portfolio strategy and local expertise make it an ideal provider to support our international growth and empower our employees in their day-to-day work,” Krap said.

BT CEO for the Benelux security consulting division, Fabrice De Windt, said the move builds on BT’s portfolio strategy of building the Cloud of Clouds.

“The Cloud is creating choices that never existed before. Through understanding those choices comes the confidence and the ability to harness change and do things that matter: get to market and innovate faster, keep costs down, and keep customers happy.

“BT’s Cloud of Clouds portfolio strategy is about allowing customers to connect easily and securely to the applications and data they need, regardless of where they’re hosted and where they are based,” he said.

He added that as a Cloud service integrator, it aims to help customers move confidently and successfully along their Cloud journey whilst minimising the complexity, risk and cost; to give them a choice of roadmaps that work for their organisation, in a way that will deliver the results they need.

“I am proud that Exact has chosen BT as a global innovation partner. We will provide a secure, scalable and future-proof IT infrastructure – enabling the organisation to focus on what it does best: continuously increase its customers’ efficiency.”
