US-based datacentre and Cloud security vendor, vArmour, has its sights firmly set on expanding into the Australian marketplace.

The vendor’s product is basically a distributed IT security model for datacentres, protecting virtualised and Cloud assets. vArmour is distributed through Exclusive Networks and it also has alliance partnerships with companies such as Cisco, Nutanix, AWS, VMware, Splunk and HPE.

“We have sales teams present in reseller communities across Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific region,” vArmour vice president of strategic markets and business development, Keith Stewart, said. “A/NZ we are bullish on and we want to be strong in the market. A/NZ, in general, has a large quantity of global entities, it’s technologically savvy, highly virtualised and there’s a lot of drive to adopt Cloud technologies.”

Stewart said it was looking to hire staff in Australia. The vendor has its vArmour Invited Partners program (VIP), which is anchored around deal registration, ensuring the partners that invest in the customer opportunity are rewarded and valued.

“We’re coming in with feet on the street and giving our partners the resources they need to be successful. The reality is Cloud and security are two of the most important topics on every client’s list of priorities for the year,” he said.

Stewart said as more companies move their assets into the Cloud, the underlying technology and security needs to change.

“Security was based around the traditional notion of a ‘perimeter’ in an arbitrary location, but in a modern business, that doesn’t make sense,” he said.

“What we’ve done is built an application-aware, micro segmentation system that gives you a consistent layer of security, visibility and control across your on-premise and Cloud environment.”

Stewart highlighted regulated industries such as financial institutions, government, retail and healthcare, as hot spots it will be targeting in the market.

In June last year, vArmour provided a free downloadable version of its product that they can deliver, or resellers can provide to customers.

“It allows the customer or partner to discover what’s happening inside the environment. We install the product in less than 15 minutes and it produces a report, the datacentre visibility assessment (DCVA),” he said.

“There’s a lot of opportunity for partners to build on top of the platform where they can help develop policies that meet regulatory burdens or security controls.”
