The Adelaide Festival Centre is set to deploy Microsoft Azure as part of the centres wider $90m grant to upgrade the Adelaide Riverbank.

Adelaide Festival Centre chief operating officer, Carlo D’Ortenzio, said the centre’s existing server was located in a part of the centre that was earmarked for demolition, leading to the decision whether to build a new on-premise server or move to the Cloud.

“Looking at the trends and doing the numbers, we found that moving to the Azure Cloud provided better value for money, and eliminated the need to replace capital equipment going forward and we will have immediate access to the best available technology in future,” he added.

The centre’s decision to move to the Azure Cloud was also bolstered by Microsoft’s partnership with Red Hat as the festival centre’s website, a main touchpoint for customers, has run on Red Hat software.

Adelaide Festival Centre manager of business services, Andrew Wroniak, said, “We’ve got a good relationship with Red Hat and have been using its services for many years, and obviously we want to continue that relationship going forward.”
