Datacentre operator, NEXTDC (ASX: NXT), has opened up a direct connection to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public Cloud through the AXONVX virtual exchange network.

The company said organisations can connect internal networks to the AXONVX fabric in AXONVX-enabled data centres nationwide. The service provides a dedicated network connection to an AWS hosting location, allowing users to create virtual interfaces directly to AWS Cloud services.

The offering follows NEXTDC's initiative with Office 365 and other Microsoft Cloud services in November 2015.

NEXTDC chief executive, Craig Scroggie, described the addition of AWS Direct Connect as a significant strengthening of the AXONVX ecosystem.

“The dynamic, elastic AXONVX switching fabric allows customers to provision services in minutes, offering unprecedented speeds and full integration between Cloud services and internal applications, with users benefitting from flexible and dynamic bandwidth through automated network provisioning.”

The connection broadens NEXTDC's ability to offer hybrid Cloud deployments for customers as applications and workloads can be moved between private, public and on-premise platforms as needed.

AWS head of channels and alliances, Stefan Jansen, said NEXTDC was playing a key role in supporting customer success by expanding AWS Direct Connect availability in Australia.
