Companies expand partnership to offer enhanced data protection solutions

Enterprise data protection and information management company, Commvault, has collaborated with Nutanix to integrate and support the company’s Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor.

The incorporation of Commvault’s IntelliSnap snapshot management capabilities look to simplify the protection and recovery for data and virtual machines running on Nutanix.

Commvault said the enhancement marks the latest stride in the company’s strategic partnership in aiming to increase predictability and efficiency for organisations when deploying infrastructure in a virtualised environment.

The company also claimed the integration allows Commvault to add to its pre-existing portfolio of managing and protecting hypervisors including VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V.

Nutanix vice-president of strategic alliances and business development, Venugopal Pai, said Commvault had been an early and strong supporter of the Acropolis hypervisor since its launch.

“IT organisations need holistic data protection and management for their critical enterprise applications. We see Commvault as an ideal partner to provide these important capabilities. Today, Nutanix and Commvault are addressing a critical need in the datacentre.”

“Building on our industry-leading work with virtualised environments and snapshots, Commvault is uniquely positioned to bring enhanced data protection and recovery to hyper converged customers using Nutanix Acropolis,” Commvault vice-president of worldwide alliances, Brian Allison, added.
