Alstom Transport signs with BT to boost global network

BT to support Alstom in over 300 locations across 59 countries

Transport system and solutions provider, Alstom Transport, has signed with British Telecommunications (BT) to amplify its global network infrastructure.

The telecommunications company will provide end-to-end network services to Alstom via its BT Connect portfolio, including wide and local area networks, internet access, integration and maintenance services in over 300 locations across 59 countries.

Alstom said the company can also benefit from BT’s Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute service that gives customers access to the Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite in either a private or public Cloud environment.

“We have great ambitions for developing our business internationally and we know that our ICT infrastructure is a key element for our future success,” said Alstom Transport chief information officer, Christine Heckmann.

“We need to innovate and implement high performance services for our customers, employees and partners and have now found a global partner with the vision, capabilities and creativity required to deliver that."

BT president of Europe and global telecom markets, Corrado Sciolla, claimed BT understands it is critical for Alstom to combine a global technology infrastructure with strong local capabilities to serve customers wherever they may be.

“Alstom Transport’s global network is set to become the foundation for highly productive collaboration between employees all over the world and the key to easily access all the business applications and services that support their growth ambitions."

The network will be managed via BT’s Network Operating Centre headquartered in Paris.
