Veeam Software has released details of the next set of features for Availability Suite v9, Veeam Explorer for Oracle.
Available with the release of v9 later this year, the offering offers transaction-level database recovery, and agentless image-based backup and recovery for Oracle Automatic Storage management (ASM).
The Datacentre software company has also introduced several additional enterprise-level enhancements for Veeam Explorers for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and SharePoint.
Veeam chief executive, Ratmir Timashev, said no company is more ubiquitous than Oracle and its position as the No. 1 database provider to enterprises across the globe serves to underline the critical nature of the operations it supports.
“Enterprises cannot afford downtime and while nothing is 100 per cent reliable, these users demand that applications and data are back online within minutes; every moment of inactivity costs money,” he said.
“With this announcement, Veeam further demonstrates the scope of its support within the enterprise market and provides users with the utmost confidence that they can continue to achieve Always-On Business status and gain a major competitive edge.”
Veeam said the addition of Explorer for Oracle comes at the request of enterprise customers seeking advanced Oracle support to deliver on the needs of organisations.
Veeam has offered recovery from Oracle and other applications via its Universal Application-Item Recovery (U-AIR) wizard. It said the new solution provides simpler and more powerful recovery similar to Veeam Explorers already developed for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint and SQL server.
New features include unique transaction-level recovery of Oracle databases, agentless transaction log backup, protection for low recovery point objectives (RPOs), 1-click restore of individual databases, support for databases running on Windows- and Linux-based servers, and fully compatible with Oracle ASM.
The eDiscovery features for Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange are said to be useful for complying with legal or government investigations, these features provide detailed export reports that allow customers to specify exactly what was exported, from where, and with what search criteria.
The enhancements for Microsoft enterprise applications allow restores of Group Policy Objects, integrated DNS records and configuration partition objects with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Active Directory, full-site and site collection restores with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint and table-level restores with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server.
