Reseller, iData Resolutions, collapses with nearly $500,000 in debts

EMC owed $280,000 when company ceased trading

The Australian arm of backup and storage reseller, iData Resolutions, has been wound up with about $500,000 in debts.

The collapse follows the liquidation of the New Zealand-based parent company of the same name.

Richard James Rowley was appointed liquidator of the Australian operations of the company on January 22.

The company ceased trading on January 23 following a meeting of creditors at liquidator, Woodgate & Co.

Australian liquidator, Richard Rowley, told ARN said he was now in the process of realising the assets of the company.

"We will investigate the affairs of the company and will in due course pay the remaining creditors," he said.

"We have advised them [customers and partners] of our appointment. Most of the company's activities are run out of New Zealand. That company has also ceased trading as I understand."

EMC is understood to be the owed $280,000, topping the list of creditors.

The company had more than $478,000 in debts when it ceased trading on January 23.

Customers and partners are now being directed to New Zealand company, Sempre.

"If you are a customer under a maintenance contract, or wanting general assistance, please contact support@sempre.co.nz," the site reads.

Vendors of the backup provider included Microsoft, AWS, IBM, Pure Storage, Symantec and Hitachi.

According to company's now defunct website, iData Resolutions started in 1992 as Backup Strategies Limited and was the original Legato distributor in New Zealand.

"As the firm grew, the catalogue expanded from backups into other storage activities such as "replication, high availability, disaster recovery and virtualisation".
